Well what can I say? The weather has been changeable and my legs just haven’t had it in them this week. I went out on Tuesday and just about managed 3 miles but my legs felt like lead. I did another 3 on Weds with my friend which felt a bit better (probably because I was chatting a lot!). Then on Friday I set out thinking all would be well with it being a week after the half (well 5 days anyway!). It was ok and I set off at a slowish but ok pace. Half way around I struggled a bit and when I reached 5 miles I was more than happy to walk the rest of the way home.
This weekend has not been that much better as I haven’t actually been out at all. I did go to the gym today (for the first time this month) and actually ended up have a one to one with one of the gym instructors which was good. I pushed myself harder than I would have done. It was also good to see that my legs were quite strong although my upper body was pathetic – I am so going to ache tomorrow! I am not never any good at getting the balance between running and the gym right. I either do all one or the other. As I have not yet signed up for another race (thought about many but not actually signed on the line!) I guess I am in a bit of limbo. I need some focus. Now that I have a new gym programme I guess that may become my motivation but I am aware that I do not want to let my running fitness drop too much. I wonder if I should have run 10 or 12 miles just to keep the distance and endurance up?
